On December 27, 2020, the Consolidated Appropriations Act (the Act) was signed into law. The Act reopened and expanded the Paycheck Protection Program. The PPP provides forgivable loans to eligible small business owners.

The Act provided additional funding to the PPP, expanded eligibility to second-time borrowers, and expanded what expenses small businesses can spend their PPP loan on. Additionally, small businesses can now claim the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) in addition to a PPP loan. Before, businesses were only allowed one or the other.
